01:46 pm - tomorrow will be no fun
i have a test in edp 202. blah.
shouldn't be too hard... a lot of piaget, vygotsky, the developing brain...
btw, did you know...
brain cells begin to develop about 4 weeks after conception;
at age 2, you know about 200 words. by age 4, you'll know about 2,000 words. and by age 6, you'll know about 14,000 words;
the j sound, the zh sound, the th sound and the v sound are the last sounds kids are able to master when learning to talk;
vygotsky's theory of 'private speech' can be summed up as this: its good for kids to talk to themselves;
the corpus callosum is like a highway that connects the two hemispheres of the brain, and women's corpus callosum are wider, which is why women are better communicaters than men (on average);
your brain stem is the first part of your brain to develop.
there... you learned something.

04:15 pm - question for you ladies...
do you believe you need a man to take care of you? at the moment i'm arguing with my boss about his idea that woman should be protected and taken care of. that men have to take care of women. wtf. whatever.
12:01 pm - my anniversary *sniffle*
backstory... my husband spent all last week helping his parents move into their new house. so on friday i went up to west virginia to be with him on our anniversary, since he has to stay next week, too.
what i didn't know is that his parents agreed to pay him for all the work he has done, and that money he used to give me my anniversary present... dinner at his fave place to eat (chili's) and a movie, plus a night at the jacuzzi room at the holiday inn. sweet, yes? i thought so :)
but tragedy strikes...
we pull into chili's around 2 pm and go in... but i forget to turn off my headlights. so as we enjoy chicken fajitas, my car battery goes dead. after we eat and go to find the dead car, we don't panic. we just need a jump, right? so this stoner-looking guy offers to help us. you see, we are parked in between two vehicles so it would be hard to reach jumper cables to us. no problem, says stoner. he has super long jumper cables. and yes, they reach! but the car STILL doesn't start.
well, neither danny nor i know much about cars. so we figure we're just screwed. it takes us over an hour to reach anyone on my cell phone, but finally we get ahold of danny's brother, who is in grayson. we are in huntington *sigh*. but he agrees to come get us. so we wait.
finally at 7 pm (remember, this all began around 2 pm) we call danny's brother back. he hasn't started toward huntington yet, he tells us, because he had stuff to do first. but now hes on his way. he'll be to us... in about an hour.
so finally at around 8 pm danny's brother arrives. he takes a look at my car and says... "you just need a jump". ok, but we already got a jump and that didn't work. he wants to try it again, just in case.
and the car starts. WTF??? what went wrong on the first time we tried to jump? maybe that guys cables were bad or he hooked his side up wrong... who knows. but since it was 8, we got the money back on the hotel, grabbed something to eat at ihop, and went back to danny's parents. the evening was a bust, and our theory was to wait till next weekend and try it all again.
what a sad story, huh? i think the saddest part is how hard danny worked to get it all set up and suprise me... and it got ruined. but the crazy part is... during the 5 hours we set in the car, waiting, we talked and laughed and joked around so much... it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.
but still... i hope next weekend turns out much better. moral of this story? be leary of stoners who want to give your car a jump. and you can't count on family to be prompt. but most of all, life is what you make it, and even when things seem awful and ruined and terrible... it could be worse. next time, the car might not start at all. enjoy what you got now.
